How many questions are on the real Pennsylvania permit test?
The Pennsylvania knowledge test contains 18 multiple-choice questions covering traffic signs, Pennsylvania driving laws and safe-driving practices.

What score do I need to pass?

You must answer at least 15 of the 18 questions correctly to pass. That's approximately 83%.

How much does the Pennsylvania knowledge test cost?
PennDOT's current Class C application totals $45.50, consisting of a $6 learner's permit fee and $39.50 for the four-year Pennsylvania photo driver license.

Can I take the Pennsylvania permit test online?

PennDOT does not currently offer a general at-home option for taking the official non-commercial knowledge test. You take the test at a PennDOT Driver License Center. Online practice tests and an official practice-test app are available for study.

What should I bring to the Pennsylvania DOT office?
Bring your completed Non-Commercial Learner's Permit Application (DL-180), original proof of date of birth and identity, your signed Social Security card and the applicable fee. If you're under 18, also bring the completed Parent or Guardian Consent Form (DL-180TD).

What happens if I fail?
If you fail the Pennsylvania knowledge test, you may retake it on the following business day. You may take the knowledge test only once on any given day, regardless of testing location.

Our short tests consist of 10 questions and are perfect for quick refreshes when you only have a few minutes. Our full practice tests have 18 questions for which you'll need to correctly answer 15 to pass.
